Competing in the AJGA Preview Qualifier at Morongo in March 2026, Lleyton was locked in a high-pressure, three-way playoff for the final qualifying spot into the AJGA Tournament. The first competitor dropped out with a bogey on the first extra hole. Lleyton and his remaining opponent engaged in a one-on-one battle for three additional holes. On the fourth playoff hole, Lleyton faced a daunting green side bunker shot. Modeling his PGA Tour idol — Jordan Spieth, who famously won the 2017 Travelers Championship with a walk off green side bunker shot in sudden death — Lleyton splashed his ball cleanly out of the sand and watched it sink straight into the cup to claim the final qualifying spot.
Scrambling to Victory at Bella Collina’s Junior Championship
Four months later in July 2026, Lleyton found himself in another playoff during the Bella Collina Junior Club Championship. The tension mounted off the first playoff tee when Lleyton pulled his drive into the rough, while his opponent safely found the green in regulation. Undeterred by the poor tee shot, Lleyton showed steady course management and composure. He struck a controlled iron recovery shot to the fringe, executed a clean chip, and tapped in for par. Surprised by Lleyton’s quick recovery, his opponent three-putted from 30 feet for bogey, handing Lleyton the Junior Club Championship.
